HERMITS DIE ALONE

In this article:

What locks some into a lifestyle of losing?

I heard my good friend Bill Orender say many years ago that… “it isn’t so much that they are losers but that they are loners.

Life is about interacting with people, not living in isolation. It is by interaction with others that we live our life. We talk, we laugh, we share, we love, we question, we argue, we share stories and jokes, we challenge and do thousands of other things together.

It’s how we learn, it’s how we enjoy things and how we learn our values.

It’s how we experience life.

When you cut yourself off from others you sentence yourself to prison. And living that way doesn’t lead to a very productive or fulfilling life.

It’s natural when the trials of life get tough that you would want to withdraw.

I remember several times when business was bad, incomes low and on top of that my weight was skyrocketing due to working around the clock and worrying. The last thing I wanted then was to spend time around happy people who seemed to have it made.

Of course, all my friends didn’t have it made but when you are feeling sorry for yourself you just assume everyones else is doing great. And you resent them for it and avoid them. Bad move.

When you’re down you need to be around people.

I learned that. It restores your perspective, it lets you realize you aren’t the only one with problems. It gives you a chance to talk things out and get some fresh ideas.

We live our lives socializing and working with people and as a result, winning involves making better things happen for not only yourself and but others as well. In fact you’ll find being able to help others out is a whole lot more rewarding and fuflilling than things you do for yourself.

So you get occasionally get overwhelmed… don’t hide, go out with a friend.

Who do you rely on when you think you’d rather run away from everyone? Think ahead and remember to value those friendships and cultivate them. But that’s only one idea.

There are a thousand things that you can do to get yourself inspired again. New ideas, new people, new places, and new things are all around you. If you don’t want to leave your couch, you’ve got the complete internet, YouTube full of video shorts, Instagram with reels, and Tik Tok with all kind of crazy things happening.

You have absolutely no excuse to get down.

Of course, I’m not a psychologist and I’m sure there are medical reasons for depression but that’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about letting yourself feel sorry for yourself for absolutely no reason. Everybody can get down if they let themselves.

Make up your mind to say inspired, to stay interested and invigorated so that you can do great and enjoyable things in life. Get out into the world because it’s an exciting place and the people, ideas and experiences you run into will change your life in unlimited numbers of productive, positive ways.

Your car won’t go anywhere without your foot on the accelerator.

The worst thing about the pandemic and subsequent quarrantine was that it forced everyone to go inside. All over the world people became timid, fearful and overly cautious about even the air that they breathed or anything that they touched. Artificial mass hysteria all for a one millionth of a chance of anything bad happening to you.

Of course, people died but let’s face it folks, we’re dying from everything all day long but during the “pandemic” even if you died of a toothache they attributed it to Covid. Everything was Covid. Fortunately that has passed but the point is make sure and that you have come out of your cave.

You can’t live life timid.

Being cautious and thoughtful and disciplined is one thing but letting your life be run by paranoia is another. Our lives are short. We don’t have much time. We have things to do, people to see, projects to complete. We have people counting on us to perform. Believe it or not there are things that if you don’t do them, they will never be done.

You’ve got to stay aggressive. You’ve got to follow your instincts, your curiosities, your interests. You’ve got to pursue those things you feel called to do, are excited about doing and just plain want to do. This is what adds spice, energy, excitement to your life.

So give yourself a quick checkup.

Of course, stay healthy, take your Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Zinc, Magnesium, Melatonin, and all the rest. But actually the real scientists say those are the main vitamin deficiencies people have that cause them to be susceptible to the ravages of Covid. So by all means, play some defense against all kinds of disease and infection but do not become passive.

Ramp your life back up to maximum speed and performance as fast as possible because that’s where the fun is.

That’s where the accomplishments are. That’s where the enjoyments are. That’s where the self confidence comes. As fast as possible get yourself up to winning speed and having fun and getting the things done that are most important to you. We’re all counting on you and need you to be at your best.
