Who you are, you must choose.
At age 10 my son Adam told me, “Excuses are like belly buttons.” Startled, I asked why. I had no idea where this was coming from or where it was going. He said, “They’re like belly buttons because everybody’s got one.” Point well taken.
If you want an excuse, you’ll find an excuse.
If you want a reason to fail, you’ll find a reason to fail. It comes down to who you are, what kind of person. Are you a person who does, fights, solves problems and moves towards goals? Do you seek what you want in life no matter how long it takes or how much effort it takes?
Or, are you somebody who can never be counted on for anything? You quit as soon as things get tough. As soon as you run into a little resistance, you just decide to cave in.
Winners win and losers lose.
It’s fine to blame fate, family and circumstances when you’re young, but sooner or later that’s got to stop. No matter how bad your situation is, if you raise your head and look around, you’ll find people who had it worse than you and won anyway. But a loser won’t accept that.
Losers have no backbone.
They do not fight. They whine, they gripe, and they complain. Losers rationalize and always lose.
A winner fights until they find a way to accomplish what they set out to accomplish. If they’re confused, they’ll ask questions of somebody who knows and has been there.
In addition, they’ll read books. They’ll listen to audios, they’ll think about it, and they’ll try new ideas. Winners move until they win.
However, a loser is going to lose. A loser will just quit, place blame, make excuses and go on to something else.
It comes down to how you react to things – your attitude.
No one who has ever lived on Earth has a perfect, happy and naturally fulfilling life. It’s Earth. Things go wrong for all of us. You can’t control them, but you can control how you respond. Winners respond one way. They fight back any way they can. Losers don’t. They give in.
You can blame others for many things, but you can’t blame them for your attitude.
Your attitude is up to you. By the same token, you choose how to act, how you are going to respond. Whether to be happy or sad is your decision. You can be hopeful or you can be depressed. Additionally, you can be positive or you can be negative. It’s your life. You choose.
Winners win and losers lose. Who you are, you must choose.
