Larry Weidel: I am here with Rusty Crossland, and I wanted to ask Rusty something that he knows as well as anybody.
This is something that I want you guys thinking about when you’re starting your business off, and you’re putting all this massive effort in, once you break the ice, and once you get that snowball rolling.
[bctt tweet=”If you stay on track, pressing on taking on new challenges, dealing with the setbacks that come along the way, and you let your efforts have time to compound and multiply. It will blow your mind how your life can change.” username=”Larry_Weidel”]
Pretty much all of us that have known each other for a long time, look back and say there’s no way we would’ve imagined this could have happened to us.
It couldn’t have happened to us if we’d only been there, three years, five years, or 10 years, but by pouring your life, work into something valuable and allowing it to continue to mushroom, it’s amazing how your life changes and expands wonderfully and pretty much every direction.
So rusty, give us something you would pass on to people about having and giving your time and efforts time to multiply.
The Best Analogy
Rusty Crossland: A great message that people need to hear. An analogy I like to use is: It’s like pushing a snowball up a hill.
You have a snowball that starts out small but as you start pushing it gets bigger and bigger and bigger and harder and harder until you get it to the top of the mountain.
Once you get it to the top and over the side, that snowball just keeps on going down the hill and gets bigger and bigger on its own.
What do you have to do then? Well, you gotta go back down the hill and start another snowball and you keep doing that over and over and over again.
Once you get it to the top of the hill and you push it over the side, it gets easier pushing that next snowball up the hill, because you remembered what it was like pushing the first one up.
This time you already figured out easier ways to push it up, and you play it a little smarter and you do it a little bit more creatively. Then you get it to the top of the hill and that one goes over the top and it runs by itself.
Can you see the analogy of how that relates to our business and sometimes what’s gonna happen?
You have gotta decide how many times you’re personally going to go back to the bottom of the mountain and push a snowball and you may wanna do it forever. But what you’re gonna do is you’re gonna start teaching other people how to push snowballs. In other words, you are going to duplicate yourself, you are going to teach people how to do what you are doing step by step so you can grow.
We have taken the advantage of compound people.
That’s where you build the magic of compound numbers. That is what we and many great leaders like us have been able to accomplish.
Build Your Team of Success
LW: Rusty, as the perfect thing for us to leave people with, the next time you go up the hill, you have a little bit more of a team.
You might have staff that can help you, maybe even a personal assistant. You might also have some other key people with you and you’re not out there alone.
In the beginning don’t be depressed because you’re having to do everything yourself, because it won’t always be that way. You will get help.
You’re gonna draw in a crowd of people who want to join in on your success. They can tell that you understand and truly know what you’re doing.
You’ve been to the top of the mountain and they will want to go to the top as well. So now you have a lot of people and you’re not only able to do it a lot easier.
You’re able to go up a lot bigger hills and accomplish much bigger accomplishments.
That’s how a person winds up living a life like Rusty Crossland.
You learn real-life lessons from being in that ball game and from tasting success and realize that certain things are different each time, but it’s typically the same each time up the hill.
What you have to figure out is what works for you and how you sort through things.
That’s what Rusty has shared with us is how he sorted through those things and how he evaluated things. That has paid out big for him again and again and has gotten him where he is today.
For those of you who don’t know, Rusty’s been earning between $2 to $3 million a year for 25 years or more now.

RC: Then when you get there, make sure you can look back and not have any regrets. Make sure you’ve done everything you could do.
You made every sacrifice you made, you took advantage of everything that was given to you and you worked it and you worked it and you worked it because you didn’t give up. Never quit and you keep moving forward every day.
