Life is tough. Have you noticed?
The challenges start mounting up right from the beginning. Even kids have it tough. They start out coddled and catered to because they’re totally helpless and hopefully, lovable.
A few short years later finds them confronted with the challenge of surviving in the world of family, friends, school, sports, and even church groups.
They’ve got to get along and keep up with everyone else. Mental challenges, social challenges…It can get to be overwhelming.
As you grow, the challenges grow.
More school, entering job market, moving out on your own, paying your own bills, raising children…there’s a lot to keep up with. It’s especially hard if you’re trying to go through life alone.
There’s no doubt about it, you need friends.
We’re not talking about a luxury item. We’re not talking about an optional part of life. We’re talking necessity. You NEED friends. You need friends because they give you strength. The Bible says, “a cord of 3 strands is not quickly broken,” Ecclesiastes 4:12. They give you strength. They help you find answers.
They also make life infinitely more enjoyable.
You can’t choose your relatives, but you can choose your friends. It’s even better if your relatives know your friends. Your satisfaction and joy of going through not only the challenges, but the adventures and thrills of life are multiplied when you go through them with friends.
Friendship is like magic.
You never know who your real friends will be. Friendship is a sparkling, mutually enjoyable relationship between 2 people and it can’t be faked. It’s hard to predict when your future friends will come or where they’ll come from. But one thing is sure. Anytime you get a new friend they will add something special to your life.
Value and appreciate your friends because you NEED them and they need you.
