They come to you with a problem, and you give them the perfect solution. There’s no reason for them not to follow through. Your solution would solve all kinds of problems in their life, yet they don’t do it.
I’ve seen sales people in my office desperate for a sale, broke, and with nowhere to turn. Then an easy lead would come along that no one else in the office had time to pursue. All you have to do is show up, go through the presentation, and the sale is guaranteed. You give them the lead, you tell them exactly what to say, you set the appointment, and you tell them where to go. But somehow they never connect the dots; they never get the job done.
Either they don’t show up, or, for one reason or another,
they can’t get it done.
On the other hand, a similar thing happens with clients. They have a terrible need, they are being overcharged for a product, and you can save them an astronomical amount of money. Everything is perfect, yet for some reason they don’t do business with you.
Or say you have a friend that loves sushi, so you tell them about a great new sushi restaurant in town. You know they’d love it if they went. Do they ever go? No. Why is this true? Why does this happen? Because of the 30 percent rule. The 30 percent rule says, “30 percent of people retain the right to remain stupid at all times.”
There’s no explaining it. There’s no justifying it. It’s just a law of the universe. As the common saying goes, “You can’t argue with stupid.” So don’t waste your time trying to convince everybody. Don’t waste your precious time trying to understand why certain people do certain things. It’s just the 30 percent rule. Don’t try to understand.
Just move on.
