THE PAIN OF DEFEAT STINGS THE NY GIANTS

In this article:

Coach Tom Coughlin is miserable.

According to news reports, he’s been going crazy after his team failed to re-qualify for the playoffs. The joy of winning their second Super Bowl last year was pure ecstasy.

Coach says the pain of missing the playoffs is almost indescribable.

Once you’ve tasted winning you really hate the taste of defeat. But that doesn’t make you immune. The Giant’s coach was aware of the problem. He’s been through it before. He thought he had his team ready, but obviously he didn’t.

Now he’s going through the agony. He said,

“I can’t even describe how it hurts, I don’t know what to do. I’m walking around here like a crazy man. I don’t know what to do with myself. We shouldn’t be doing this right now. I’m glad I’m not a betting man because I would have lost everything.”

Want to know why champions work so hard? Better than anyone else, they know the pure joy of winning, and that makes losing revolting to them. They can’t take it. That’s why championship teams and organizations rarely have big let downs, because they are going to fight.

As much as they want to win, they’ll do anything they can to avoid the powerful pain of losing.
