Even the Rolling Stones wondered
It was the ’60s. Their dreams were coming true, their careers starting to take off and you’d think they were on top of the world. But they weren’t and they couldn’t figure out why.
How do we know?
They wrote a song expressing something they felt and it hit a huge nerve with the public. It didn’t just become a hit, it became an all time classic. The title? “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction.” The words say it all…”Though I try, and I try, and I try, and I try. I can’t get no… da-da-da…satisfaction.”
Like most people, they were looking in the wrong places
Things, things, things. Cars, homes, vacations, clothes, jewelry…THEY’RE SO ALLURING! And they are tremendously satisfying—for about 15 minutes. Then the sparkle starts to fade. The magic sure doesn’t last long. Once you have something, it’s amazing how quickly you take it for granted and start lusting after something else. Round and round it goes. The chase for things never ends because what you get never satisfies long.
If you want real satisfaction look somewhere else because you won’t get much of it from things
You can get a buzz, some thrills but they won’t last long. If you want lasting satisfaction there’s only one place to get it and it’s really pretty obvious. Turn to God.
For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness. (Psalm 107:9)
